Ben Semanoff is a camera operator working in Feature Films, Television and Commercial production, and specializing in Steadicam and various remote camera systems. He is the president of ZipCam Systems and is also responsible for product design and engineering.
In 2003, Semanoff was trained on SuperFlyCam, a lightweight 35mm cable camera system. His instructor was Garrett Brown, the inventor of SuperFlyCam and the renowned inventor of Steadicam. In 2005, Semanoff purchased the rights to SuperFlyCam and became the worldwide provider of SuperFlyCam® rentals and crews. Soon after, Semanoff began working on ways to advance the capabilities and performance of the cable camera system. One of Semanoff's early successes was the 2007 introduction of a horizontal configuration that enables the cable camera to pass through areas with very limited vertical clearance.
In 2009 Semanoff introduced his new company, ZipCam Systems, offering an array of speciality camera systems. At the core of this initiative is ZipCam®...the world's lightest and most affordable cable-suspended camera tracking system. The ZipCam combines a new ultra-lightweight wireless pan and tilt head (ZipHead™) with our remarkable stabilizer (ZipStab - formerly SuperFlyCam), along with other advances in engineering, design, and function.
